David Armstrong

David Armstrong was married to Deb Bailey for 20 years, eight months and 28 days, before motor neurone disease intervened. They met in 1979, when both were working as magazine journalists at Australian Consolidated Press in Sydney, and have two daughters, Claire and Jane.
David has been a journalist all his working life. He started as a junior reporter on The Australian straight after graduating from the University of New South Wales in 1969. He went on to become editor of The Bulletin, editor of The Canberra Times, editor-in-chief of The Australian, editor-in-chief of the South China Morning Post, and president and chief operating officer of the Post Publishing media company in Bangkok, Thailand. He now lives in Bangkok, where he is an adviser to senior management at Post Publishing. He is also on the board of the Australian-Thai Chamber of Commerce.
